Doesn't seem to recognise mine? (at all)

Using an official apple connector through the USB connection and doesnt show on the "source" screen.

Cayman GenII - Business partner has a 997 gen II and exact same issue

Wish we'd both known before we changed phones, any advice, anyone suggest a solution?

Are you using the official Porsche iPod cable, with the lightning adaptor on the end? If so there's no reason it won't work, as that's how mine is connected.

Using USB only cable......didn't realise porsche had released a I phone 5 I pod connector......source on this weekend

If you are in a 997/987 then you need to check the profile of bluetooth that the car is using.

When you select phone on PCM without anything connected you will see a message. If the message says that it is looking for a mobile phone with the profile of "Sim Access Profile (SAP)" then that is where your first problem is. You will need an OPC to switch this to be reading "Hands Free Profile (HFP). It takes them 2 mins if they know what they are doing! Using HFP will deactivate the sim card slot in the car but will allow you to use Blackberry/iPhone/HTC etc.

If you already have the PCM phone set to HFP profile then you must get the phone o find the car and not the other way around.

If you are in a current generation car then simply jut get the phone to find the PCM.

Sorry i totally mi-read your post....blame it on the sunshine and local ales!!

If your iPhone is not running the current software (ios 6.1.4) this will give you issues. Also if your music was bought from itunes a number of years ago, you need to plug the phone into a pc to update all the music without the apple copyrights ( it will do this automatically!).

A few cars I've seen run a USB to charge and 3.5mm jack plug lead and run Aux source - functionality seriously limited though.

Would be interested to hear a way round it - I have tried USB > Lightning and it only charges (997.2 / PCM 3.0 / SW 1.47)

Hi Ekona - just to double check - you are using the iPhone 4 (old dock) cable that came with the Gen II cars and putting the official Apple iPhone 5 lightening converter on the iPod bit of the cable or have you bought an iPhone 5/lightening cable set from Porsche?

As per your first point, yes. Old iPhone connector cable, with the Lightning 'lump' adaptor stuck on the end, and then attached to the iPhone5 which gets wedged (and it is tight) in the armrest.


A better solution might be to buy the Apple cable adaptor instead:

...as although you'll have more cable to deal with, it should fit a little better without so much stress on the cables.

I just use an old iPod with a giant harddrive. Works flawlessly for music, and the iPhone5 syncs via BT. PCM3.

They do not. If a 997 you still need the supplied connector + the Apple 30-pin to lightning connector with the short cable. There is no reason to expect that situation to change - Porsche aren't big on fixing anything once models are out of production. With the 991 onwards you can just plug a standard USB-lightning cable in AFAIK though.
