I don't think you would lose quite that much, perhaps £20-22k if you sold privately, obviously less if you sold through a dealer.

And in 2 years you'll have to pay somebody to take it off you...

What a dufus response.

Try and get it for 26-27k and sell in Easter advertised at 25-26k.

Impossible to say, buy because you like it.

Why would you sell in February?

£18K seems VERY low. If you buy well and sell privately you'd probably lose a few thousand but February isn't the time to sell a cab.

Also, when's the service due next? A nigh-on £1k major service due in March is gonna hurt you.

If tyres, brakes and service, front bumper no stone chips etc... were all up to scratch, probably wouldn't lose too much privately. Hard to guess.

By that time you would have only started bonding with the car.

I think 18 is probably a bit too low, but if you are selling it to a dealer then you need to take off
a bit for depreciation - say 1-1.5 k if a load more 991s hit the second had market
a bit for miles say 0.75
The dealer margin - at as guess say 4k (gross)

It looks like top money now so there might be a bit of that to factor in and you are down near 20k, possibly a bit more privately

How did you arrive at that figure? How much do you think the OP should pay now? What other factors have you identified between Jul and Feb apart from +4k miles, +1 owner and buying when sunny and selling when freezing cold?

Hi guys, thanks for the replies, just came at this from a different angle. I'm looking to buy one but I think they are very bid up at the moment, and trying to get a feel for how much I'd have to pay for one if I wait til next Feb!

Approx 22k private and 20k to a dealer.

But there are so many other factors, some of which have been mentioned.

That's a completely different question though!

Last week of December may be a good time to buy - market depressed by Christmas, year end targets etc.

If you bought the car you posted originally then tried to sell it tomorrow you would take a hit.

And another angle - wait until Feb to buy one, and the way things are going in the Middle East you pick one up for peanuts.
No one will be able to afford petrol.

(Except for solicitors and shysters, of course wink )
