996 C4S....are they rising in price?

Spotted this during my usual perusal of future cars.

Pretty steep for a Tip C4S. Low mileage i get but thats probably the most expensive ive seen for a long time. I thought i was paying top price for mine last year but no where near this which in essence is a £28k car.
Are the C4S's starting to rise in the future classic area (he says hopefully!)?

In a word NO, they are hoping some poor mug comes along and does not look beyond the low mileage...
With the well known chocolate engine, I don't see how they can do anything but drop...

Its worth £18k if going by your maths so i disagree its over the top at that price. I would expect it to go on at £5k less with room to manouver down but not £18k

With 964 and 993 models at current prices the6c4s is next in line to get bid up in my opinion. Most desirable 996 model. QE does that to prices.

Sadly, I don't think these will ever be loved enough to appreciate. Engines problems, challenging appearance ( to some ) and an awful interior all count against the 996.

Still allows those who want to actually drive a 911 instead of just polishing one to enjoy a bargain.

Already going up, in germany this would be close to 40k euro. I like them and wouldn't mind having one

On a slightly serious note, I do think prices have maybe begun to stabilize/begin to bottom out. Don't think they are likely to rise for a long long time though.

The only way is down ! It's never going to be a classic with the running cost and the risk of an engine going pop.
Also you can pick up a 997C4S with nice miles (under 40K) for under £30K

IMO the 6C4S represents fantastic value at the moment. £1500 can sort out the IMS issue so no big problem compared to what owners can spend on the 993 964 etc. I love the look of the 993/964, in fact most Porsches hold their own attractions for me but as an ownership proposition the C4S takes some beating. I know we are all different but thats a wonderful thing. I love the interior of the 996......and enjoy driving it even more...

I have no idea if they are going up or not, but they do seem to be quite a bargain at this price point and if I had to lower myself and drive a kettle then it would be 996 C4S, real looker and best of bread (not including turbo or GTs).

I was having a mooch through the classifieds recently and did notice that they hadnt really dropped much in the last 6 months and if anything, the 2003/4 and lower mileage ones certainly appeared to be priced higher than before (what they actually sell for is another matter).

It gets tiresome with all this talk of chocolate engines and dated interior though.. So every classic car has bullet proof mechanicals and timeless interior design? (I love the interior of mine btw).

Plus one, some people just have to justify all the money they poor down the drain for an inferior old car.

I really think they are climbing in value.

I sold my 996 C4S SOR through JZM in March. It achieved the asking price of £25k for a polar silver / black leather car with 21k miles and it was absolutely immaculate (I do not say this lightly as I am a fussy f***er.

Anyway, since then JZM have sold 3 or 4 very similar cars (same colour and same miles) for closer to £27 - £28k, so they do appear to be climbing in value and also seem to have quite a loyal following.

Its like I have said before, there is a Porsche for everybody's taste and pocket.
Buy the one you want and enjoy, not everyone loves the same model.
Some hate my model some love it they say its to old and other things.
However it puts a smile on my face.

My very own theory is that the 993 and 996 "C4S" models have additional cachet over the standard Carrera model based on looks alone and people are willing to pay for it.

On the 997 I am not so sure this will apply given that there are not enough distinguishing factors with the other Carrera stablemates (widebody with the C4 and big reds etc with the C2S).

Shame I have a 997 C4S!
