I have heard that this can be a bit of a task without the proper tool?
Has anyone achieved it by dropping the lower suspension arm using a trolley jack to take the load ?

Cheers

On that programme with Mike Duff and his mate, this is how they did it on a 190 cossie (essentially the same chassis) but my mechanic reckons that even with the Merc tool you're taking your life in your hands.

Do not under any circumstances remove a spring from a Mercedes without the proper equipment. It is literally easy to kill yourself.
