W245 B Class - Intermittent Starting
Discussion
Hi chaps,
I've tried searching on here but, as is nearly always the case, search isn't working very well.
Long story short - I have a B200 Turbo with 28k on it. A couple of weeks back, it broke down leaving my wife and baby stranded - not ideal.
2 hours later, AA turned up, tried the car, it started fine.
Came home, started fine.
Used again this week, left my wife stranded again.
Now, what adds insult to injury is my Dad's B class did the same and his fix was a new starter motor at £500. Ouch.
I'm now staring at the same, so long story not so short, I get to my point. Has anyone else had this on their B Class?
Was the fix a permanent fix or are starter motors considered a £500 consumable (I've read others saying they only last 2 years!)?
And lastly, was your fix simply a new starter or is there a 'new and improved' starter?
Any experiences to share would be appreciated.
Cheers
