Hi everyone would just like to introduce myself to u all as have finally joined having admired the website for ages.

Am v close at the minute to buying a chimera 4.5 but am wondering about retro fittng air-con and how possible it is and a cost? - any ideas

and yes i do know the roof comes off them!

Retro-fit air con eh?

Can't help there but I know it costs about £1200 on a new van!

This has come up before so a search migh find a bit more detail, but.......
I think your looking at at least £2k and it's a massive job, if you really want air-con find a car with it already fitted, I wouldn't pay a penny more for a car with it as I believe it's a bout as effective as having your passenger blow at you

Thanks for ur help - think i will forget the retro fit idea

not sure how important it is anyway?

does any one with a chimera have a serious prob in the winter with them steeming up ?

am looking at a 2000 onwards car and guess i'm wondering how important it is?

any help most appreciated

Are you buying from a dealer?

I had it retro-fitted on my Tamora, but agreed that as part of the deal to buy the car, so whilst normal cost would be over £2k, I negotiated it as part of the price.

And it is bloody effective, I'm very impressed. My car steamed up like mad on the day I collected it, the a/c has cured that. Think it will be bloody useful in warmer weather as well.

We have it on our Chim and it's invaluable for defogging the car on wet days. We wouldn't be without it!
