I find it very easy, have you been shown the correct way of positioning it as you drop it in?

Talked to a TVR specialist, who basically told me to jump in with both feet,pre-serps are as goood as the serp, all be it, the running characteristic and set ups are slightly different

Canvas i.e. top of roof facing forwards and curved edge i.e. front edge facing down. Tuck left side of roof right into the side of the boot and the right side drops in. Square it up and bingo. smile most important is to start with the roof the right way round as described.

Roof in but,had to pull out at bottom so slopes and takes a lot of room up,is this correct, and how do you get spare wheel in as well, other than laying it on roof??

Spare should be a space saver, this goes ion the right hand corner against the tank, there should be a rubber strap. The roof then fit in front. As you say you do have to angle it forward slightly

To make life easier, chuck the spare in the garage - would you really consider driving anywhere with that on?? Especially considering the tyre is close to 20 years old!!

In all honesty, you're very unlikely to find a garage nowadays carrying stock of tyres that would fit the Grif (especially 15" fronts). Best to plan for a trip home on the back of an AA/RAC truck in relation to any tyre related problem.
