MOTing a Cayenne

What a fking rigmarole...

Mot place 1 - all fine until it comes to lifting the front of the car up...

Looked like the tester was struggling to lift the front

"Have you put the suspension in to lifting mode?"

"Nah never had to before"

"Have the other cars had air suspension?"

"It's just a cayenne, they're all the same ain't they"

"No"

Fortunately, it was his ramp that broke and not my car...

2nd mot place:

Arrive and ask the tester to make sure suspension set to lifting mode before lifting, also tell centre manager...

Comes to lift the front up

"Excuse me, have you set the air suspension to lifting mode?"

"Nah, it doesn't say anything about that on our sheet"

"We'll it does in the handbook"

"What even if your not lifting all of they wheels off the ground"

"Yes..."

Morale of the story, keep an eye on the buggers or it could end up costing you a compressor, air bags or both...

Not heard of "lifting mode" before, I assume it can't be moved in this mode or you would have put it in yourself wouldn't you.

It cancels above 5mph or so, so really needs to be engaged on the ramp.

It stops the suspension from trying to endlessly adjust itself when a wheels off the ground an I'd hasn't realised.... Or something like that.

It's to notify VOSA why things may not get checked, not something to notify you.

The advisorys hadn't been issued to the cars before me and let's face it, all modern cars have engine covers and undertrays.

He put that down because there was nothing else to advise on.

It's to notify VOSA why things may not get checked, not something to notify you.

At the risk of being a bit dense....why do VOSA need to be informed of such? Are they not aware of makes/models of various vehicles? Is that not part of their remit?? Still seems 'petty'to me to mark such on an mot..some people would still question it when looking at your docs when selling etc,just something else to explain that doesn't seem to need to be on the pass certificate in the first place.
