jobs in crash repair

I was just wondering about a few thing regarding the crash repair Trade in the Uk. Main dealer or larger private firms.
I have been in Sweden for 20 years and may fancy a move back. It has to be down the South West of England.
So Someone who is good at paint, panelbeating, classic car restoring, windscreens and more. I have done a stint at a Ferarri garage, and high end motors like Aston, Porsche, So not frightend of much. I also have opinions on how to run a profitable, happy workshop.

Hows the job market just know?

A friend of mine works in a private bodyshop (same one in the SW for over 25years) he said for the last 5 odd years they have been ticking over but just managing to keep himself and one other working (their reputation for excellent work has helped a lot),quite a few other private places have gone out of business. Nowadays insurance companies lead you to believe you need to use their 'approved repairer' and most of the time people will for ease etc, because of this insurance companies have 'deals' with main dealer/franchise bodyshops (for a huge discount of course) to send all the work to them, these are generally production line places where the work churned out is of a lower quality.

I'd say a good metal guy for classics and/or custom work is always going to be in demand once people know you're around.
