How far behind would I be in the traffic light Grand Prix?

OK, so it's silly and childish but we all do it (don't we?)

I've got a standard (but healthy) Chim 450 and I was wondering on a zero to about 80 MPH race away from the lights, how far behind would I be against other (standard) TVR's all things being equal. I know a Tuscan, Sag, Chim 500 would destroy me but by how much?

How many car lengths would I be behind various TVR models? I have no idea so it could be 4 car lengths, it could be 40.

I know it's juvenile and probably doesn't warrant an answer but if you do know....

450 is about 4.7 0-60 and 11.2 0-100 so not far behind. 80 mph is not going to take very long so it will be a few car lengths at most to something like a tuscan. Good launch and swift changes would make all the difference.

Last Christmas I bought my daughter a PH tee shirt that says 'my dads car is faster than your dads car'. Dunno if you've got kids Brummmie, but I hope my daughter doesn't meet them if she's wearing the tee shirt, coz I told her she'll never meet anyone who could challenge the statement

I know my place at the TVR table but at least it still leaves me the aspiration of a Cerb or Tuscan.

(I'm still looking forward to meeting up with some Tivvers soon so I can find out the answer to my question).

Unless its a strap-on chopper then over a short distance it will be close but add a mile or two and it grows. :-)

Mate bought a Chim 450. Rolling drag race from 30mph to a lot mph with me in S2000 = Chim quite a few convincingly large car lengths ahead. Decided the S2k wasn't man enough, swapped it for healthy Chim 400. Nothing in it in-gear against mate's aforementioned 450.

Same Chim 400 on trackday overtook most things, but Tuscan 1 (and Haircut Mike's 4.6 Chim) were noticeably quicker on straights.

Drove standard Tuscan 1. On-cam it felt ballistic. RV8 has a good chunk of torque, but S6 at top-end was impressively fast.

How far behind on traffic-light GP? 42.

Did a track at Bedford with Peter (Haircut Mike), and at the lower speeds the cerb would pull ahead. But once over 90-100 the the extra bhp of the cerb kicks in and left the chim for dead.

Like most have said, from 0-60 ish I wouldn't expect more than a few car lengths, but above that the difference would be a lot larger.

Blatting around with other Tiv's is huge fun, and the collective noise is unholy. Had a short run out with Hoofa and Andav a couple of weeks back and the sound of all three at full chat coming down the A1 was immense. Mind you, we did have about 1200 horsepower between the three of us

Anyway, it's not other TVR's (IMO) that matter in terms of being left behind, it's those batds in Fezzas and Porkas.... 'Not so smug now eh?' I say to myself as they shrink in the RVM.. yeah, that's right, built in a shed mate, in Britain, and, and, er.. Sorry OP, got a bit carried away there

Quite right, a cerb is one of a few that can do that, to be fair, it would leave most at speed. BTW, I have another 50 horses since then, you can pass me slightly slower now

When I drag raced against a Tuscan 2, my chim was in front for most of the strip but pipped at the post as the Tuscan came on song.

Same against Robs sag on track, chim quicker out of corners but as the speed piles on the sag is there.
