Long story short i have popped the BMW cherry. I purchased this fine Bavarian long boat today. It's a 1998 and has 90k on the clock so it's barely been run in.
I bought this by simply having a chat with the owner one day and he said he'd never wanted to sell it but didn't have room anymore.
He owned it for years, I know that's true because i used to get the bus past his house and remember it being in the drive at least 8 years ago
It's got every bell and whistle, air con climate control, cruise control, 6 cd change, memory seats, etc
I'll post up some better photos but the condition of the bodywork is near mint and it's evident the guy looked after it like a child.
It has only done 2k since the last MOT and had a few grand spent on it for that.
MPG is about 25 on a good day, 30 on the motorway, but i wont be using it as a daily
So the plan is really just to keep it in great condition, maybe change the wheels for a few hundred but i quite like the originals
apart from that keep it until autumn and see
oh and did i mention it only cost me £600, new price was £44k
an awful lot of car for the money and i reckon if i sold it on without doing anything i would get at least a grand profit

ks sake - why can't i start a conversation with these kinds of people!
There's one local to me which never seems to move any more, and I keep trying to have a similar conversation with its owner.
But with no disposable cash at the moment, I would probably come over all charlie big potatoes, only to have to excuse myself when the deal needed to be finalised.
Shame how my lifestyle is hampered by my meagre income.

The wheels look unusual as well - I'd be reluctant to change them, I'm not overly knowledgeable about these things but I know I've not seen that design before so they could potentially be quite rare. Obviously it's your choice, but keeping it original (and in what looks like stunning condition) would separate it from all the other 'gangsta' 7 series.
As it stands, it oozes class and probably has an excellent ride quality. For that kind of money I'd struggle to do better.
The wheels look unusual as well - I'd be reluctant to change them, I'm not overly knowledgeable about these things but I know I've not seen that design before so they could potentially be quite rare. Originality will be a premium should you try and sell on some time in the future
