Surely it's a bit late in the year to have unfledged chicks in a nest?

We've got five redstart chicks outside our bathroom window, and they didn't even hatch u til this month.

We've also seen ducks on the river nearby with two different ages of duckling, as if they've had two broods this year.

And we had two different hatchings of frog spawn in the pond, even though we're sure there was only one mating period.

What's going on?

Birds have more than one clutch of eggs per year. You maybe seeing the second or third set of young for that particular bird. It could also be the first if the young or eggs have been taken.

Some of the Pine Cones near us are just weird. The top is all Autumn, but the bottom half is all green and Springy. They are falling in June/July.

Poor buggers have no idea what season it is.

My poor cat doesn't know what to do with himself in this hot weather. Since spring was so cold, he hadn't shed his winter coat.
