How to trigger my car boot sale studio strobes?

Went to a carboot sale today for the first time in about 20years! Would be tempted to go again after finding some umbrellas and strobes for £10 (£5.70) after pretending not to know what they are.

Anyway, the strobes are Courtenay Colour Flash 100's and have an 'xsync' socket on them which looks like a large jack plug. My nikon d80 doesn't have a pc port and there's no way that I would connect them even if it did.

Can cheapy eBay radio triggers cope with high flash trigger voltages? How else would you recommend?
The only info I can find about them suggests that they have a negative polarity sync lead. This doesn't mean much to me, I thought flashes just sat at a voltage waiting for a camera to short the circuit.

Your best way is a set of radio triggers.

Depending on budget you've got Yongnuo for very little money, or Pocket Wizard or Elinchrom Skyport if you want a posh setup.

Just been out to the garage to test them out. One works fine, the other caught fire. A big 100 ohm resistor got so hot the insulation on the wires going to it caught light!

Intriguing about trigger voltages, the cables that go to the sync port are male to male. I haven't put a meter on these on the working one but it would seem a bit dangerous (even for the old days) to have a high dc cottage on a male pin!

We'll see I suppose.
