What is the best mechanical change you`ve made on your car ?

I was thinking the other day, what is the best `one thing` i have done on my car.

It was definitely having my fuel injectors cleaned (not by me !) by the garage. Stopped all that mis-firing and kangarooing down the road !

What was the best thing you have changed please ?

Assuming all is running as it should and cooling system 100% then

1- mx5 mirrors (not really mechanical)
2- LSD really transforms the car

Massive difference in enjoyment compared to the slightly wobbly Momo item it had before.

Forgot the seatbelt mod - but thats because I havent done it yet!

Seat belt mod to stop them getting trapped in the door when they don't rewind. Strange, but that improved my enjoyment of the car no end.

When I finally got round to setting the tappets clearance on mine. The clatter while idling was really annoying. Because I guessed wrongly, that it was more serious I left it until I could afford to book it in for major engine work.
It was like it was transformed, smooth with just a minor rattle until the oil has circulated, then just the exhaust note.
Even sitting in traffic is great now, just to sit there with that burble from behind... ! Especially when outside Jimmy Spices in town, narrow street tallish buildings and huge reflective windows. Im so vain ...
I love this car more and more with each remedy completed.

XR4i Front brakes in terms of simplicity and cost.Not really mechanical but the mod to the seat belts has made a difference disproportionate to the cost and time taken.

I have the rose joints - where did you get nuts and bolts?

From memory, I used the some long bolts which I had left over from a seat belt kit (no nuts required).

I have just tightened and adjusted the bonnet....................................The difference is astonishing, no rattles, and feels more solid!
