My neighborhood here in Berkeley, CA has a wonderful mix of Porsches, from Carrera GTs to old targas and everything in between, they are a seriously popular brand here, as are premium Euro brands in general. A Boxster is a far more common sight than a Mustang.
By contrast, I can count on one hand the number of Porsches that I spotted the whole time that I lived in Columbus, Ohio a couple of years back.
If Porsche want to really blow the US market wide open, they need to tackle the states where buyers will typically default to domestic brands on patriotic and value bases. I think they have yet to even attempt this in many areas.
