mosquito restoration

anyone on here know about the restoration. . .will it be flown, is it going to be a static display, any further details ??? i over heard someone say its being rebuilt in Hertfordshire and i fancy a nosey along unless this is old news of course

Well there are several Mossies at the DeHavilland Aircraft Heritage Centre. http://www.dehavillandmuseum.co.uk/index.html

Maybe they are doing some work on one of theirs. As far as I was aware, they intended to keep their airframes as static exhibits, but as long as they exist, then there's always a chance that someone will find the funds to attempt a flying restoration.

I read about the fact that the owner seemed to be selling up. Let's hope the Mossie finds a buyer who can keep it flying.

It could probably fly here for a 6 month period on it's N-reg, but it wouldn't get a G-reg or UK CAA permit.

Why wouldn't it get CAA approval? it's a perfect recreation, the only thing that's different are the glues
bonding the wood together, Glyn Powell used a far superior adhesive that doesn't suffer the issues that
the original stuff suffered, I've got to assume that it's more likely to be the CAA are just being the CAA as usual!

I am always a bit annoyed about the perception that the CAA seems to be out to block warbirds from being restored to airwotrthy condition. Funny how the UK has the largest warbird community outside the US.
