Hey, just wondered if anyone has changed the TVR badge on their Griff 500?

Just thought would read up or get any advice prior to doing it.

Thanks

Loads had the badge changed to a union Jack version that someone produced on here ....just unbolts off if I recall right, or just two clips holding it on, I get confused with the front and rear that I changed .....anyways doddle to replace.

2 studs - cant recall if they are 7mm nuts? Just be careful not to break the studs off them and dont tighten the new one too tight. I used spring washers plus the normal flat washer.
Just do some back exercises before you start.

Probably easier to remove the bonnet to do it, no?

The badge is on the front section not the bonnet. Just need a good bendy back and long arms.

It's a bit of a fiddle.. Great if you have small hands or its a case of popping the airintake off (if you have act type) tip I found useful when refitting is masking tape to one side of a spanner. Its enough to stop the nut dropping but easy to pull away once the night grabs the thread.

Note to Chinaera owners: easiest done if you kneel down by the nearside headlamp (offside if left handed) and put your spanner arm in horizontally. Yes, you can reach! I think it was 7mm, small deep socket IIRC

Got one in TVR Gold on Ebay. £10 I think I remember. Meant for a Tuscan and is slightly smaller. Has a stick on backing. Will probably fly at 150. Needs a better fixing to bolt holes. can be done.

Well done it:

It took just under a hour to do, being careful not to damage the paint. If of interest I did it as follows:

1. Unscrewed bolt on retaining bracket on air filter box/cover (right hand side)
2. Slide air cover to the right (looking face on the car).
3. With some careful moves, slide the air box cover out of the nose of the car and positioned it out of the way resting on the exhaust Y piece (engine cold of course).
4. With air box cover out of the nose this exposed the two nuts retaining the badge onto the bodywork.
5. With a M8 open end spanner, nuts where unscrewed and removed.
6. Badge then removed.
7. Badge area was quickly cleaned, before dropping new badge in place.
8. New lock nuts used with washers to clamp badge onto the body.
9. Air cover box, slide back into place, before clamping bracket and bolt refitted.

I took more time as being extra careful, realistic it should only take 30mins max.

Am very happy with it, one less job on the list to do now....
