XK8 Thermostat
Discussion
I bought a replacement thermostat a while ago & never got round to fitting it.
It turns out that the seller (name & shame rules prevent me from naming names, but very similar to "Gold Car Parts") sent me a part that's very nearly but not quite the right one- I only found out after I'd bolted everything back together & the coolant top-up leaked out where it wouldn't seal properly. On contacting them they admitted the part they'd sent was fractionally different. The front of the thermostat bulges out & conflicts with a small vane in the front part of the housing.
I can't get a refund or replacement due to their time limit policy (unless I want to pay restocking & postage charges) & it's hardly worth going to court over a few quid, so I'll chalk it up to experience. I'll buy another one from elsewhere.
The point of this is: If you buy a thermostat, make sure you fit it promptly otherwise you risk being out of pocket for someone else's error.
