Late yesterday evening I returned from a trip down through Germany (Via Dunkirk, Brussels, Frankfurt)to Berchtesgaden In the Bavarian Alps for 2 nights across to Scharnitz in Austria for 3 nights, back up through Germany and completed 2 laps of the Nurburgring. My 400 Chim, was absolutely amazing, not one hint of any dramas (despite reversing into a tree at a restaurant in Austria - slight fibre glass repair required), the car started, stopped when needed, and drove perfectly utterly amazing, I could have saved the cost of my European breakdown and spent it on a couple of more laps.

The German Autobahn's are fantastic and were a real test of the cars power and reliability and it performed gallantly.

As for the Nurburgring - I wasn't anywhere near to being the fastest but by no means the slowest, lap time of approx. 13mins but there were a couple of yellow flags so feel happy considering I've never been on a track day before my sons Corsa flew round but it was designed for the Nurburgring so not surprising.

I took A box of spares and between my son (he took his VXR Corsa Nurburgring) and I, we had a quite good tool box, however no tools were thankfully needed.

Will need to plan for my next trip in 2014, but tempted to take a shorter run again this year.

Sounds like you had a blast! Nicely done sir.

But for the record, if you had simply driven off a suitably high cliff; you could have covered 2238 miles in around 15 minutes smile

We drove up the Rossfeldringstrasse which according to the info is the highest road in Germany I fired up the Sat Nav at one point and it recorded 1540 mtrs above sea level

I plan to. My wife keeps trying to talk me into a Porsche instead, but I've been there and done that (before we were together) and there just isnt a Porsche I want as much as a TVR. Every time I've come close to getting one, I've been distracted by something more mainstream and it's not happening this time! smile

You know - when I see picture like that of them in the wild... as it were... I do wonder if they spark the same emotion in the... common people.

Brilliant post clap

This is exactly what these cars were made for.

I'll be off again on my annual dash around Europe in three weeks time.

Just back from Le Mans this will be by seventh continental trip in 4 years, we'll be doing a leisurely 2900 miles in 20 days.

You simply cant beat a Chimaera for classic continental touring, I've forgotten how many times I've done 600 miles in a day.

Well done the OP, TBH everyone with a Chimaera should be doing this yes

I have lots of Pictures but the 2MB limit on posting restricts how many I can post.
