On a Friday morning, how early do I need to be there in order not to get held up too much? Should I be ok at 7am? Or should it be 6 to be sure?

Everytime I've ever gone that direction, the traffic has been poor. Regardless of the time of day.

You just have to suck it and see.

On a normal morning without any closures or accidents it starts to get busier between 6:30 - 7am. I wouldn't bother even trying after 8am.

Very much luck of the draw I think - I've been there at 7 or 7.30 and had virtually no hold ups, other times queuing all the way over the bridge and beyond!

The same coming the other way - I go to Brands Hatch a lot, and some times the traffic is slow at the Swanley junction, other times straight up to the toll booth at 5.30pm.

Not much help I know!

As others have said, a very random stretch.

I've cruised up to the toll in rush hour and I've lost 90mins at lunchtimes - just totally random.

Have a look on a map at how to roundabout jump from the a2 junction, you can see if theres traffic on the way down by looking for stationary lorrys on the huge flyover.
