how many points would you expect to get for doing 90 on a motorway, and how many point for doing 75 on a 50 zone on a motorway. if all points are collected in one day on one trip but in separate counties can you do anything to minimise the points tally?

IIRC up to 94 mph on a m-way is 3 points and 60 clams.

Both incidents subject to 3 points would be the reality. No room for plea bargaining on that issue.
Your friend is likely to attract a minimum 6 points.

You could try arguing that it was a 'same occurrence' offence.
If they accept that, only one set of points are applied (although, still two financial penalties).
