I hope someone may be able to shed some light on my dilemma!.
Our 94 chim has the paint code P422-PA14B, which relates to Starfire mica blue.
I have just received a touch up kit from a reputable firm, and the colour supplied is a lot lighter and they have gone off the code to get the colour for it. When we bought the car we were told it was Starmist blue and had no reason to doubt this until I was checking the paint codes and it was showing as starfire mica blue, there is no obvious signs of a re-spray as the engine bay colour and door apertures are all matching, unless its had a complete colour change (done properly) how can I match the colour.
Is there a way of telling the colour with a spectrothingy and where would I get this done.
many thanks in advance
Jamie

Are these guys in your neck of the woods?

Autopaints Plus
The Old Dryer Barn
Swanborough
Lewes
Tel: Lewes (01273) 478111
www.autopaints.co.uk

They advertise a colour matching service..

I've no experience of their work but they may be worth a shout...

Hi oops I knew about them, my ex husband used them in the past, forgot all about them. Don't think I should have said " oh yes I know where there are " goes down very well after just getting the wrong colour paint through by courier from London. They are only about 15 or so miles from us.

Jamie will give them a call, Cheers for reminding mesmile

I had an S in that colour a long time ago. I believe it was originally a Toyota colour if that's any help. Really nice colour by the way. It's got all sorts or colours in it.

Just to add; starmist has very discernible flakes in it whereas mica blue was more or a pearl type of paint.

Hi, No it wasn't S&D. I am seeing someone locally and hope that a match can be found. I am looking at a re-spray next year so I will be in touch then. Thanks for the thought
Jamie.

Hi, thanks for the info and I am sure that starfire mica is a nice colour but unfortunately I have found out that mine isn't that colour as its darker.

I want to add that TVR Paint codes were not always accurate and your paint code might well be for silver when your car is black. That was TVR, Here to help owners and other Paint shops. Malcolm
