which coolant do you use for a 996tt?

Had a new expansion tank fitted at an indy and the level has dropped to minimum. No visible leaks so just circulation. The indy and Opc are an hour each way. How would you top up the radiator?

The correct type is very important.

I used Glysantin G40 as an alternative to the Porsche one.

If you don't wish to research the type required and the alternatives that may be available to you, you could use distilled water to top up. The entire system takes a humungous amount of coolant so adding a litre or so of distilled will reduce the concentration of the coolant by a not that meaningful amount. Next topup when the proper stuff is available just add the equivalent amount undiluted, to restore a 50% concentration.

Unless the indy lost some coolant and never topped the system up. The proper procedure is to drain the system enough the tank is empty then replace the tank and dump the saved coolant back in the tank.

But if the car left the indy with the coolant level ok, and not just "ok" based on the level being ok but by drawing a good vacuum on the system and then topping up the coolant with *no* air pockets, and the level is now down...

I believe that the coolant used in Porsches is the same that Audi use (so presumably also VW). I needed coolant quite urgently last year, and this is what the OPC gave me (free of charge- can you believe it?!)
As others have said, a litre or two fo distilled water isn't going to make a difference.

Rockster, I am trying to be positive. He said to keep an eye on it. I will get some coolant tomorrow and top it up. There is nothing on the garage floor.

OK I got the VW/audi one topped it up with 1/3 of a litre and it hasn't moved for the last couple of days. No drama, happy bunny.
