Congratulations Simon. Lovely looking Vantage. Someone is bound to say that the grill looks much better with the number plate plinth removed, so I thought I'd say it first. Fuse 22 removal is de rigeur
If the aircon isn't getting very cold then re-gassing may be required or the condenser may need replacing. Either is a simple job.

I know mine struggled a bit at the weekend to get really cold, it was showing 34degC as outside temperature though. Just wondering if anyone else found it similar or was icy cool no problem? Woollie is a much wiser man than me though so what he said is a distinct possibility.
P.S. nice car OP, tungsten vantage common as muck though

Well, I picked up my V8 Vantage on Saturday
I have some observations...
1) Its awesome
2) A/C seems a bit pants (might need re-gassing). Is this normal?
3) Pulling Fuse 22 made it even more awesome.
Cheers
Simon
1. Yes

2. No
3. Yes
By the way, what colour is that?
Looks real nice.
Thanks for the comments everyone.
I particularly wanted tungsten/black. (I admit, there did seem quite a few to choose from)
I have been thinking about the number plate plinth. My only concern being that without it, I could put a dink in the front of the bonnet. Especially as i'm rubbish at judging the length of it. (no front parking sensors)

If you'd asked about the AC prior to the weekend I'd have said that's not right.

However ours was struggling badly at the weekend. Sometimes it just gave up and pumped uncooled air into the cabin. Sometimes it was OK, but never "cold".
As already mentioned it was 33 degrees at times though.... but that does not explain the not working/sort of working behaviour.
I'm hoping to scuff through with it until service in August when I'll know more.

My aircon is ok ish..... But it's not a patch on the system in my old jeep, which even after 14 years, never been re gassed is still as cold as ice..
My view is the AM system isn't up to keeping the cabin icy cold on very hot days..
I agree the AM system isn't brilliant. The one I had in my old XJS was superb. Made me shiver when on full blast! My view is the AM system isn't up to keeping the cabin icy cold on very hot days..
Trouble with the Vantage is I like to have the window open to get the full exhaust sound, so the cold air just shoots out the window anyway.
Welcome.
The aircon in my V8V also gets the car as cold as needed, regardless of the outside temperature. (If there is a large disparity between external and internal temperatures, the car will automatically turn on 'recirculation' to help the aircon out. It might be worth double checking that 'recirculation' is on).

Best to leave it on 'Auto' let the car sort itself out. The only thing I alter is the temperature. Car is like a fridge. Unlike the 18 month old BINI which will never go really cold
I've tried it on auto (that's where I usually leave it)and tried recirc, but its just doesn't seem to be "chillsome"
I have to drop it back to the dealer to get a "check emission.." warning on the dash sorted, so I'll get them to re-gas it, if required.
Still over the moon with the car though

Keep the plinth. When people on this website pointed mines out, I hadnt even noticed that I had one. Plus you gave excellent reasoning for keeping it.
My only thought about the plinth on the V8V is that the top of the plinth should be aligned with the bottom of the rad grill. aircon should be icy cold ...mine was last time it worked properly when touring Europe in +30degrees
however had it regassed twice before identifying a leaky compressor and will be getting a new one fitted in next few weeks
so get it checked out...look for tell tale leak evidence around the seals on the compressor unit
