So far there are 6 caravans suspiciously moved in overnight in a generally children's park ( load of swings ) about 500 yards from our house, the locals who's property backs on to the park told me that sutton council has been informed & reckon they will be gone by the weekend, something i'm not so sure about, I am very concerned about this as i have had quite a few driveway enhancement people offering their services as of late . The power tools have been moved to the house from the garage .

This really couldn't have come at a worse time with this heat with having to leaving windows open during the night to get some sleep , . Perhaps i'm being far too judgmental about these people before anything has happened , but i am fearing the worse as i seem to get the feeling that this will not end well.

Even when they move on it will take days to clean up the mess left behind. Human & animal excrement, general rubbish etc.

Would this be the same Sutton Council that 3 weeks ago admitted it's gypsy deterrents do not work.....

Inform the council yourself too so you have a record of it, usually takes two weeks to shift the parasites on in my experience and a lot longer to clean up the mess they leave.

Funny really, if I dumped a load of crap in a field i would be fined, but somehow they always get away with it rolleyes

you are clearly being far to judgemental, when the 3.14keys move in and things disappear that is a coincidence and not a direct result of them taking it.

Councils take too long to do the "right" thing.

My mate had them on his car park.

Went to the Mitrarch and told her to get her family to leave - she refused.

He got in touch with his mate and a number of excavators, tippers and hard core descended on the site.blocking in the new residents.

Police watched on for fun I think!

They were allowed to leave after they asked, one by one through a controlled exit, after they had tided up their own pitch.

I sympathise with your problems

If they are on primary land (such as play area) then the Police can move them on within 24 hours

The difference being the Council and CPS can send you written notification to your address, if you fail to attend court they have your contact details and can send the police around.

Above all because average citizens are far easier to prosecute than those who know "their rights" or more likely their "HUMAN RITES" better than their wrongs.

You need to act as quickly as you can, sooner the better.

We have the blighters try it on from time to time up in our village, usually while on their way to the Appleby Rape-o-thon.

Both times they've shown signs of stopping they have been moved on by a group of us but it needs to be an immediate and intimidating reaction by the locals. If you show any signs of tolerance or understanding they'll simply st everywhere, steal all your stuff and stay for weeks.

They have been around in the green fields near me often over the past year, in two separate fields one of them twice. The poor farmer has had to dig what are essentially anti-tank ditches (good for drainage I suppose) and using the spoil to make large burms to prevent them getting access, he has also had to place large bollards (removable but locked in place) in the entrances.

On the last time he expressed his displeasure by dumping a pile of horse muck from his stables in the field entrance, the 3.14keys responded by simply removing a section of the fence further down (break in the trees/hedge that go around some of the fields) so they could come and go.

They have left the following behind, rubbish, excrement (I assume human and animal), tyres, car parts they don't want (bumpers etc.) and once even a dead horse. There is a large police station less than 2 miles away (on the same road) but they are powerless to do anything about them.

Unfortunately whilst the bleeding hear liberals continue to give them a sympathetic ear the longer they will get away with it. It’s high time trespass was made a criminal offence, then the police could simply move them on, there are plenty of 3.14key...sorry traveler (must be PC rolleyes) sites (I'd have these closed down if I had my way) in the area so they have no excuse for stealing other peoples land.

A friend of mine had a big problem with them in his village. Robbing people, fighting and trying to run over dogs with their transit van in the local park (yes, really).

Police/local council went into chocolate teapot mode, until somebody made a couple of anonymous tip offs that the 'travelers' had been seen selling guns and drugs in their camp.

Cue full on armed police raid of the site. I think the police HAVE to do this when they get such reports, but not sure. I don't know what the police found but they were all gone very shortly after that!

Good plan but on what grounds did you "ask" them to move on?

I'm surprised that they didn't just respond with a load of abuse.

They moved in along the road from us.. However, it was quite near a Military Base/Offices. They didn't even last the night. (MP + guns etc)

Which proves, if someone really wants them moved on quickly, they can.

Its interesting this, I posted some months ago about them turning up on some private land near me that is empty, they were shifted on within 24 hours

So I am guessing Landowners have more clout than Councils?
