Anyone ever heard of this? Can't seem to find anything on google - but then I'm a bad googler biggrin

Just had dpf deleted and remapped. Guy rekons around 215bhp from 165hp. I'm gonna get it dyno'd at some point to see what it's really running.

Well to be honest I haven't noticed a difference at all laugh
Guy rekons it'll take a couple of days to settle down, one of his previous customers noticed this. If nothing happens he's happy to up the power though. Even partner says it feels the same.

So ever heard of anything like this?

(Won't name and shame company as it's not shaming yet and he's nice biggrin plus his car is ridiculously fast from him tuning it so he can't be bad at it?)

please check page 7 for update smile

50hp from a remap with scope for more? Sounds sketchy already...What car is it?

Fiat bravo 2.0 165 multijet. I've read on owner forums running 220hp from remap and dpf delete so figures sound reasonable?

No discernable difference after a '+50bhp' remap? sounds like you've been had, mate. Yes, ECUs have a learning process but that wouldn't account for anything like the gains you've been quoted.
Out of interest did he quote a figure for increase in torque?

That's such a big difference that it's beyond calibration differences between rolling roads, so you could easily prove the guy wrong and get your money back?

No not really but he gave me a competitive price, had the dpf delete at a reputable garage down road from me then mapped it himself. I took it for a test drive and told him what happened etc. He was happy to map it again if I'm not happy. I've seen his equipment it's all proper stuff so not sure if I've been had. Plus his car has company writing all over and he's known locally smile.

He said roughly on quotes, I wasn't fussed as he saved me a good £200 and I asked for a mild remap first. 215hp is a guess from him but he expected atleast 200hp

I smell a great big pile of bullst.

I went with a friend when he got is Seat Leon Cupra remapped and it was exactly as you imagine. Drove it there with the power he was used to, uploaded the new map after some health checks, and took it out and it was like a rocketship.

Same when I had a remap done on my own car. Admittedly only a naturally aspirated engine so limited gains, but the second I drove it I could feel different characteristics to the engine immediately.

Someone is telling you porky pies.

I would have thought it would be considerably faster.
It must have shed at least 200 kg of rust since the remap !!!!..

This is why I ask if he quoted a torque increase. BHP is just the product of an equation, torque is a tangible unit of measurement. Anyone who will re-map an engine (especially a diesel) without offering both a power and torque increase value makes me suspicious.

Well as said I'm giving it a couple of days and if nothing he's going to add a more aggressive map. Just something I've never heard of but is a nice guy. Maybe I'm too nice.

I didn't ask tbh. As said a dyno will tell me everything I need to know smile

My Disco 3 took a little time to get to maximum performance - a few days-worth of driving - but the difference was immediately apparent.

You're understandably defensive of your purchase but a genuine 25%+ power increase should be immediately apparent upon driving the car.

I thought I felt a slight increase but the OH doesn't seem convinced. It wasn't omg its a rocketship. Admittedly I haven't tried motorway driving yet, only 1st, 2nd and 3rd.

I had my Leon Cupra R remapped a while back. It was pretty quick when it was dropped off, immediately much, much quicker afterwards. Think about it - you're changing some or all of the boost, fuel and ignition timing maps in the ECU, it should be an instant gain. That said, some ECUs do adaptions which means they'll fine tune some or all of those parameters a little bit over a few miles or so but the benefit should be right there from the go.
