My Durametric arrived....

Not trying to frighten you but I`d be more concerned by seeing zero in all ranges than some recorded historically. Apparently they can be cleared very easily ?
That's what I wondered - isn't rev range 1 below the redline and well below the rev cut-off?Seems unlikely that someone never 'fully' revved the car in 25k miles....
Most cars I've seen have thousands of range 1 & 2 incidents!
I have zero in all ranges too, zero when I bought it 2nd hand and zero since and I've hit the limiter going up from 2nd to 3rd a number of times, albeit briefly.
I've no idea what you need to do to register a reading as I was at least expecting a few in range 1 and 2 based on the Porsche guidelines and as sidicks said, everyone seems to have them.
Just wandering if some ECU's are more tolerant than others.
Either way, a durametric sounds like an investment.

Either way get the bores checked, probably scored like crazy if it's never being opened up.
Don't put that here...someone will believe you!!!
I can easily see how a PDK would easily get into RR1. My old Spyder just invited it - plant your foot and it was like a roller-coaster ride! For me at least I drive much more sensibly in a manual

Manuals also easily register range 1 and even 2 when using all the revs in sport mode or if you bounce of the limiter. So it's never being driven to it's full ability or the rev ranges tampered with. Many will tell you these engine once warmed up like to be driven hard. Infact what they hate more than anything is traffic or being driven around in high gears or kept as garage queens.I can easily see how a PDK would easily get into RR1. I'm sure it's ok but to me it would ring alarm bells.
My engine had thousands of ignitions in 1 and 2, now it's even got some in 4 as im remapped with a higher limiter and a month ago Hartech inspected my bores, result was one of the cleanest engine they'd seen, yet it's done 50k miles.
These cars like to be driven and well cooled, keeps them happy, plus regular oil changes.

Just not the way I drive them. Unless you're flying around a track don't see the need on the road. Rarely go far beyond 6000 revs and that would be the exception and not the rule. I'm sure there are a whole lot of people who are similar and also quite a few who aren't.
Didn't actually realise it was possible to reset this info - certainly not easily. If it was I'm sure we'd rarely see car with hits in RR 3, 4, 5 and 6 on a dealers forecourt.
I'm going to have another go with the Durametric tomorrow and hopefully get a better idea of how to use it properly - erm, hope I don't come back with more hits than I thought

I have never see a car with rr1 clear.
both mine have a quite a few in ranges 1 and 2 of course more so in range 1
so in 25k miles some thing sounds a miss to have zero even in range 1
I would now have to hit the limiter in gear 2 to see if it comes up with any :-)
But I would say it's been reset/cleared to show nothing, what's the running hours etc
Good job you did not buy that GT3 if you stay below 6k lol.
not enjoying the car to the full seems not worth having as changing sub 6k drops you in no mans land.
Porsche have always said use the engines low revs is far worse it seems on them than high revs.

I don't necessarily agree with Gibbo205.
As I said in my post, I've no readings in any range, and I've hit the limiter lots of times (out almost every weekend in the Brecon Beacons)..
I've had the DME readout 3x times in the last 3 months at OPC (different OPC than where I bought from), they also went through all previous stored (porsche GB require it) DME info from new, so it's all consistent.
I genuinely wonder what I'd have to do short of wilfully keeping it flat to the floor on the limiter (or fluff a change) to register a reading.
Or maybe my ECU is more tolerant, don't know, but (I can't speak for the 30k before me) once warmed up I drive it like its meant to be driven and up to 7500rpm by ear is easily done; that doesn't even trigger the limiter for me.
To add, I've had the engine stripped, there was no scoring (gen2).
