993 motor sound air box

Gents,
Now have the RSR's on, but still crave more volume....
The best price I have found for the Porsche motor sound air box is £106 delivered.
Has anyone seen better?

Bought mine off eBay for the I thought great price of £90.00. Found out later that OPC at that time was actually cheaper. Do not know if that's still the case, but might be worth a call, or if that fails, eBay?

I did mine myself on my first 993, it was very simple, use the pic above and replicate.

It did sound better to me at least, just that when Gert had done his stuff, it kind of lost its value.

Actually, it doesn't. As the picture you posted clearly shows, the Motorsound airbox has the chrome intake. This is actually visible from outside the car, through the grills in the spoiler.

It did sound better to me at least, just that when Gert had done his stuff, it kind of lost its value.

It is better but only really noticeable on Wide Open Throttle i.e. when you have the accelerator clamped to the floor. It is also noticeable inside the car with the windows closed. A subtle difference, but combined with the RSRs makes a great package.

I wanted to see if this make any difference without drilling first so just removed the lid and taped on the filter as assumed this would give a similar effect. I couldn't really tell much if any of a difference so didn't bother.

Mine has an original motorsound box as it has the lowered chassis option. For some reason, you got the chrome tipped motorsound box with this option!

I did as Molly suggested and used Jackals as a template.

Worked fine. I think it does improve the sound. My exhaust is standard. If it wasn't I'd guess you wouldn't hear the 'motorsport airbox' as much.

It's an easy DIY mod.

Sorry can't help it with the pedantry. However, I think you are wrong again. M033 was the lowered chassis option, it didn't include the Motorsound airbox. If your car has it, then it was probably fitted by a previous owner or you have the Motorsound factory option, which also included different exhaust boxes.

For more sound you could remove some of the sound proofing fitted under the rear parcel shelf. 4 screws to remove shelf - easy mod...

I was under the impression that M033 option came with the motorsound box. I cant remember where I read it though!

That's a little too much volume.
Interestingly as I am piling on the miles the RSR's are getting a deeper, less metallic in tone.
Very pleasing! I also stand corrected, you can have way too much flat-six roar!
