Hi,

Thought if start a new thread as the other pics were lost in that old thread.

Picked up a Tenorite grey 2013 E63 estate yesterday.

I ordered it back in February on the back of the (now discontinued) very cheap 2 year personal lease deal that was being offered at the time. I wanted the car ASAP as my C63 estate which we had from new was out of warranty in March, but even with me badgering the dealer every other day it only landed in the country last week.

The car is Tenorite grey with matte black alloys (option), privacy glass (option) and black leather interior (standard). No other options on the car, interior or exterior. The only one I would really have liked would have been the locking diff, but the uplift in monthly payments was obscene if we specced that.

So far I've only had a couple of short drives and the engine feels very tight. Or that could just be the difference between the n/a unit in the C63 and the twin turbo in the E63. It's certainly got loads of grunt low down. Though its nowhere near as vocal from inside the cab. But the wife drove it off last night and this morning and it sounded bloody epic from the outside!

Interesting point about the gearbox: in full Manual mode you can now double and triple stack the changes both going up and down the 'box. The old unit in the C would never do this. I do like that it can do this now. Though it it is still far from a sharp, instantaneous change that I wish they could achieve.

Any questions, fire away and I'll do my best to answer.

Jack

I love the styling of these. The new lights and front valance really make it stand out.

As I said in the S63 thread earlier tonight, this would be my choice of rapid comfortable transportation by a country mile.

very nice, great colour - pity u couldn't justify specing the locking diff - can't get to grips with that new grille, much prefer something more conservative with the gunsight, helps pinpoint the apex when drifting...perfect stablemate for your GT3.

Stunning car and I'm glad they still make a car like this. I came from a c63 also into a m135i, great car but miss the v8, may look at one of the run out models at the tail end of the year.

Looks great! I've done just over 6.5k miles in a CLS63 with PP so the same power as the E and I must say it just keeps getting better and faster! It's also amazingly economical, I got just under 30mpg out of it on a run up to London the other morning!

I would suggest pressing the traction button when you fancy a proper drive, it actually lets you put the power down; coming from a C63 with LSD I found it frustrating how hard it was to get traction at pretty much any speed, until I had the balls to try removing a bit of the safety net!

Enjoy it. smile

Car looks stunning. I've got one on order exactly the same spec. It was due in September but have now been told November due to the panoramic roof issue. Ah well should be fun getting used to 550bhp on the slidey stuff

Love it, what a beauty. Such a great all rounder, Tyre shredding power, muscle car looks and the practicality of a wagon. After just having returned from Cornwall in the M5 with a boot filled to bulging, a wagon just makes so much sense with kids.

"I ordered it back in February on the back of the (now discontinued) very cheap 2 year personal lease deal that was being offered at the time."

Would you mind telling me what this deal is, I am curious in case it comes back later in the year. Presently its 8k upfront and 700/mth over 3 years.

Cheers,
mondie

That is correct. That is the deal I got. You can't get it if you walk in the showroom, you need to get to speak to the business development person. I can give you a lead to the lady I used in Manchester if its of interest. Just mail me.

Did out first longish run in it from Manchester to Hereford yesterday. Already returning over 25mpg on the run, where the C63 never bettered about 21mpg. Car was very comfy (I rode in the back with one of the kids) and feels quite a bit more spacious inside. As a passenger in the back you can more acutely feel different suspension settings. From the drivers seat the Comfort mode is softer than the C63. The medium damper setting feels quite close to the C63. The firmest setting a bit stiffer.
Gearbox feels better all round than the older unit in the old car. More responsive and I like the fact you can double stack gear changes in manual mode.
Interior is lovely too.

Looks great out in the wild too. Already had a few people achnowledge the car on the road.

Altogether really enjoying the car. It's got a very different character to the C63. The old car was much more agile and felt more compact (as you would expect), the newer car feeling very refined and very solid. The engine characters are also very different. The throttle response of the old engine will be missed, but there is no denying the thumping torque of the turbo unit.

I'll post more after a few more miles.

I've had my facelift saloon for about a month now and am beginning to open it up a bit more. I echo the OP's feelings about throttle response but you get more used to the delivery with time. Once you're on the open road and shifting gears yourself and keeping it in 'the zone' (for want of a better expression) it comes alive, albeit not quite in the same way as the M156 engine does.

The car has already surprised me on B roads once you have sport handling mode engaged and the suspension in its stiffest setting. There's no getting around it, it's a big car but the body control is better than I expected it to be and the car can be placed very precisely.

I've taken to driving around with my rear windows down to enjoy the noise even more.

Sure. Email me from my profile. However that deal is now expired for retail customers. Still available for business customers though.
