The World arrived at Falmouth today, this is a cruise type ship called a yatch apparently where the people on board actually own and live in the apartments on board.
Ihad heard about her before but never expected to see her in the flesh, I must say I was a tad disappointed, it is very shiney and all that but it looks like something you would cross the channel in..
Anyway it is there for a couple of days and is interesting to read up on, I wonder whe the guests on her are?

I saw it in Auckland NZ last year and had a chat with one of the pursers. At that time there were a couple of apartments for sale and the cost of these was in the millions of $ and as you state the colossal monthly fees mean you would have to be very, very wealthy. He said the biggest problem for the "residents" was the boredom of living almost full time on the ship and can imagine it would be very claustrophobic seeing, living and eating with the same people all the time. He did say that the apartments had kitchens but these were rarely used and most people used the restaurants (there was also a small deli on board where you could buy stuff if you wanted to do your own food).
The 2014 itinerary looks quite interesting compared to normal cruises.

That does look pretty good. I wonder how much a cabin really costs. I can't see living in one of the studio rooms (think Travelodge) being attractive to the seriously rich.http://aboardtheworld.com/journey
The 3 bed cabin does look pretty nice though.
