Mitsu cuts prices on new Evo

Free servicing for three years bundled in

Mitsubishi is offering three years free servicing and a grand off list price for the Evo VIII 260. Between 1 October and 31 December the Evolution VIII 260 is offered at an on-the-road price of £22,999, a saving of £1,000 on the list figure. In addition, Mitsubishi is offering free servicing for three years, or 27,000 miles, whichever comes sooner. This move comes soon after Subaruoffered a low-cost service scheme for the Impreza (see link to story below).

Mitsubishi Motors UK said it was "confident that this latest package will open up Evolution ownership to a wider audience and encourage greater sales".

Paul Brigden, General Manager for Ralliart, said, "This realignment in pricing and valuable offer on servicing is designed to make owning an Evolution VIII even more attractive. It brings prices in line, or even lower, than that of other cars in this sector, many of which cannot match the technological features and performance of the Evolution."

The Evolution VIII 260 makes use of Mitsubishi’s world-renowned 2-litre in-line four-cylinder 16 valve DOHC turbocharged intercooled engine, which develops 261 bhp at 6500 rpm and produces 262 lb-ft of torque at 3500 rpm. This provides the car with a 0-62 mph acceleration time of 6.1 seconds and a limited top speed of 152 mph.

The Evolution VIII 260 is fitted with a five-speed, close ratio gearbox, coupled to its electronically controlled, ‘active’ four-wheel-drive transmission. The car also comes packed with equipment, including: Mitsubishi’s Super AYC (Active Yaw Control), ABS and EBD braking system, Recaro front seats, 6-spoke 17" alloy wheels and optimised suspension.

Sounds like a lot of car for the money, not sure about resale after the three years though.

0-60 in 6.1 sec, I though they were quicker than that.

Maybe if they throw in free insurance, petrol and tyres they will get some takers.

Evo's are quicker up the spec-range. This is the bottom rung of the ladder
