We are looking for car enthusiasts with an ability to spot specific car models. Your role would be to identify a particular car manufacturer and quickly assess the model and colour as they drive past. This data would be input into a tablet App. The role would be outdoors and require some patience.

The role would be for 1 week starting 26th August 2013. Hours are 7am to 11am then 4pm to 8pm to cover the rush hours and you would need to be able to do both sessions. You do not have to stay between 11am and 4pm, however punctuality is extremely important. Pay would be £100 per day. We are looking for at least 2 spotters. The location is Kensington, London.

If you would enjoy working with cars and technology please let us know. It will be a fun job, working with some nice folk.

Please contact: james AT koffeecup.net

Michael243 (I think) one of the car spotters on the super cars spotted thread might be interested. I know he's just lost his job and was getting some advice on here recently

I would love to do this, I live 40 mins away in Hertfordshire, so I can get here very easily by train. I am 16 and have no summer job so it would be perfect, plus I can identify pretty much any car on the road. I often go supercar spotting in London anyway.

It's probably worth saying what type of car - there would be a big difference in the applicants if it's modern supercars, old classics or your everyday type stuff.

This

Any modern car/car since I was born I could name instantly, anything pre 1990ish and I'd genuinely struggle

It's confidential at the moment, however it is a current manufacturer. Not a supercar brand i'm afraid! Any successful applicant will have a chance to brush up and attend a short paid training session. It's a common brand..

nono
You're going to have to learn to appreciate older cars sooner or later Danny.

Is this going to be a case of spotting all the little details that differentiate (for example) a Focus Edge from a Focus Titanium?

I will I will, when I'm like 40 (17 years) all the cars I like now will be old

If its that level of detail I'd be pretty screwed, especially with porches, does anyone truly know every model just by sight?

Sounds like a fun job, I am not sure if it has to be that specific location but I would have recommended Knightsbridge, specifically around Sloane St and Harrods, I am in the area quite often during lunch time and Lamborghinis, Ferraris and other random exotics are very very common, especially in the evenings, on a nice day.
