Alpine club trip 2014, need some been there doen it advice.

Was having a chat with some guys at my club and the seed was planted of doing an alps trip taking in a couple of classic tour climbs/routes.
We're talking september next year and 10-15 riders in two ability groups/routes.
Rather than try and do a 2014 Tour route, the idea was to do maybe one from 2012 one from 2013, to celebrate/experience the brits in yellow (won't say more than that until sunday...GO FROOME!!!)
Initially accomodation is the question, cheap hotels or good sized self catering chalets that anyone has experience with?
We're at the embryo stage but anyone who's done, or better still organised, a trip, your input would be appriciated.
