Boxster S - clutch/buying advice
Discussion
Hi,
The missus has changed her mind. From previously fancying an 80s Corvette and something to beat about in, she is now thinking that a Boxster might fit her desire for top down motoring and serve as a daily as well. She's done some reading and has decided that she's after a 2003 3.2 S in any colour but silver and preferably with no nav.
We found one that looked vaguely suitable and that was local to my work, so I popped over to take a look. It's done 87k or so, has lots of history (the engine was repaired with some donor parts in 2009 apparently), and is up at £9k. It drove ok, except for the clutch which was very heavy and the bite point was near the top.
Is this indicative of a clutch that's on its way out? Also, does £9k seem reasonable for that age? Is the engine repair at all relevant? Is there anything specific that I should look out for when we go back for a second look?
Many thanks in advance for the help.

Thanks for the reply. I've read a bit about IMS/RMS and it all seems a bit of a lottery. There are no specifics on what was actually done to fix the engine, but given that it was 4 years ago, isn't it likely that any repair related issues would have shown up by now? It's had multiple services and quite a lot of work done since, the last owner seems to have been quite meticulous so I'd imagine that any obvious engine issues would have been addressed. Or am I being naive? What problem could have remained hidden for that time?
I think it's yes and yes. Yes those are signs of the clutch needing doing in the nearish future and 9k is too much to pay. 7.5k is the right amount to actually pay. but not that with a clutch going.
I sold my pretty identical 3.2S (with 12 month old clutch) for 7.5 a couple of months ago.
