Just seeking opinions/thoughts. Most on here will know me as a TVR die-hard fan but have a bit of a dilema to consider.
I have recently took the heads off my car thinking I may have a problem, but turns out I haven't. Short version is pesky valve seals is all there is to replace. But it's got me thinking;
1; Should I bolt back together as is and just use it more, as a Land Rover engineer I've known for some time who worked on the 4.6 project had a look and said, 'it's not run in yet', commenting on condition of internals.
2; Should I progress further with a turbo install [I have some low comp' forged pistons to use] that I've been contemplating for some time.
3; bolt back together and sell.
The latter occurred to me as I don't get to use the car much at all and even less now with my new business commitments. For those who don't know the car it's a 'W' 2000 450 with still only 17,400 miles from new! and a fortune spent in upgrades [2 x box folders of reciepts that I'm afraid to tot-up yet], it was on the TVRcc stand at the NEC last november [Chimaera at NEC thread] and I've owned since 2004 at 6k miles. The cars been a keeper, but I have these odd thoughts in my head about change. Also, prices seem all over the place, so thoughts there appreciated also. Is it my age?

You've taken 9 years to do the mileage I have done in 14 months. So you clearly don't USE the car.
So what's the point of sticking a turbo on it? Do you really need the bragging rights?
If you like taking it to car shows and the odd Sunday drive, then keep it.
If it never sees light of day, have a good hard think about why you are keeping it? It is gorgeous, but is that enough?
I have had four horses for the last eight years, but they hardly get ridden and everyone resents spending the time looking after them. I am going through the same process, and am struggling to break the emotional ties.....

always.'If you like taking it to car shows and the odd Sunday drive' reply

'It is gorgeous, but is that enough?' reply,
full circle, my original point.

With what would you replace it? No point in getting rid unless you're replacing with something better, no?
If for something better then silly not to.
As chimps go, I've always liked yours - it has character and a little something different.
Praise indeed! From a Griff owner. If for something better then silly not to.

What more do you need Mac

IMHO you would be completley mad to sell this car. It's a stunner! The turbo is nagging at you so follow your soul, fit one and..... USE IT!
Perhaps a small lifestyle change is required to 'create' some driving oportunities but I agree with all other posts when they say you will regret it if you sell. If you need further convincing, current values do not show this to be a good time to sell. That said and if you do decide to go for the 'sensible' option, someone will pick up a peach. Do you really want that???
