squeaky windows

My 996 turbo was doing this every year during summer when it was hot, only on the drivers side. I tried silicone spray etc. and it made no difference.
The regulator snapped just before Christmas, and I replaced it. It hasn't done it at all this summer, even in these hot temperatures.
The regulator position is set from the bottom of the door (there are rubber plugs covering the holes that allow access). I suspect a minor adjustment here would probably solve the noise problems - just be careful the window is still sealed when the door is shut. I'm sure replacing my regulator solved the problem simply because it's positioned slightly differently than the original. (Assuming the noise wasn't related to imminent regulator failure!).

He suggested something like Ivory dish soap or bar soap and getting some -- just a tiny bit don't slather it about -- on the felt. Interesting as thats the same as me. I worry about streaks. I'm not convinced though it's the felt thats dry though as it only happens once the window is half way downI have at tube of Gummi-fledge but have never used it for this. I do not want to use anything that will leave streaks on the glass.

Might not be related to dry felt then. But I note with my car (the Boxster) I had both window regulators replaced and the windows I believe press tighter against the felt now. The regulators just fell apart they were so worn out. So the windows were not pressing against the felt very hard at all.
As a bonus with the new regulators the small leak at the top of the driver's window is no more as the window now fits tighter against the top rail rubber.
So it could still be related to the dry felt. My point is your car's windows do not press as hard against the felt as my car's windows until they are halfway down.

Not the felt then. You know now that I think about it the squeak I hear from my windows is a bit too much to be from dry felt. I wonder if the regulator hardware is dry or dragging? I think my regulators are still under warranty (2 years, 24K miles). The car is due to go in for an oil/filter service soon and I'll have the tech listen and then hear what he has to say.I think I need to remove the door card in order to see what part of the trim is causing the squeak
