After having my diff dropped i have had a speedo problem ,it works within a few mph up to 60mph then it goes off the scale reading 100mph at 70mph

They have reset it cleaned and lined up the wheel thing .

Could it be the speedo ?

Doesnt the signal go through a signal converter before the speedo, or have I just made that up?

Doesn't the speedo take a signal from the diff? If so, check the gap

Could be your tyres slipping on the rims?

Yes, the tyres pretty much stay where they are and the rims spin up. tongue out

Soz for that, but I did admire Spends' bit of lateral thinking. I don't know the answer to your wild speedo antics but it's got to be electronic in nature, give me a mechanical drive anyday. At least you can judge things by the rev counter at 70 if your worried about Plod for the time being.

Not sure, this may help, albeit if it only eliminates something?

I get to play with these speed senders on a number of cars albeit mostly Kitcars. You can get that fault from the sensor either being too close or too far away. There is little or no logic you just have to experiment.

The saga carries on ,new speed sensor fitted ,its been adjusted 5 times and the pick up is all straight and level .

The speedo is perfect up to 60mph then reads 110mph at 80mph .

What could it be ?
