V12V or V12VS or DBS
Discussion
I have a 2008 4.3 vantage roadster sportsshift, I have been offered a great deal on a new unregistered 2013 MY white V12V white coupe.
Questions
I have not test driven a V12V or a DBS or new V12VS but are the discounts being offered on the V12V due to the imminent release of the V12VS
Or would a 2010 DBS be a better buy.
There are plenty of beautiful low mileage DBS coupes and roadsters about with under 20 k mileage s about.
As what I assume was the Aston Martin flagship, is the DBS the better value ?.
Any thoughts on a 120 K budget
Wish I could win the lottery and have one of each

Right now a heavily discounted V12V would be the pick of the group for me, but in 6-9mths I would be saying a discounted V12VS all the way.
Unless you really want that GT experience then the DBS is out of the running in my eyes, as a vanquish is already established and has moved the game on in this respect.
Just test drive the V12V and you won't be indecisive anymore!

Do you think the V12VS will be available in 6- 9 months discounted ?
Yes, you will. I was a cynical V8V owner, but one drive in a V12V blew me away as it has done many others. Im now on my 2nd V12V! Do you think the V12VS will be available in 6- 9 months discounted ?

Yes I'm 99.9% sure there will be discounted V12VS's, ok maybe more like 9-12mths but I am sure it will happen as it has for all recent Astons. Until the economy recovers, which wont be for another few years at least, or unless there is a step change in AM sales thinking, heavily discounted new dealer stock is here to stay! Paying full RRP to get a brand new model (aka V12VS) is for the super-rich only - of which sadly I am not one

Yes, every day and in every way. The DBS has a road presence that cannot be matched by any other Aston, save the Zagato and, perhaps, the Vanquish. Makes the V12V look the little brother that it is (sorry V12V owners...
)I have a late model DBS, model where B&O standard. Fairly rare as manual.
DBS has massive road presence as has been said.
It was more expensive than the Vantage to start with which should mean, given the relative prices of where they all sit now, it should on balance retain a greater percentage of its value.
What kind of discounts are being offered?
If you want to go quickly the DBS will not disgrace itself against a Vantage. That said, when we are on our Welsh hoons, the Vantage is an absolutely epic machine. They go round bends like they are on rails and you really have to work at it to keep up.
Have recently considered a V12VR but there's something that is very special about the DBS.......would be very hard to part with it. On balance, unless the Vantage was an absolute steal, I would test drive them all and make your choice from there.
Not very conclusive but hope it helps.......wish I could have both
Happy hunting

I confess that I love the DBS auto so will be biased. The manual gear change in the V12V didn't suit me, I found the gear stick awkwardly positioned. The V12 s cold well be brilliant, as you say once discounted which whatever AM say I suspect will happen in summer not year with a roadster to follow.
Right now the DBS looks good value to me. For example a Volante that listed at say 190k can be bought for say 110 to 125. A new vanquish Volante will be 220k .
Personally I would buy the DBS and think about a V12s in 18 months time when a coupe listing at say 150 with some options will be available at 120. The DVS won't have depreciated much further on that time.
We all see things differently, just my contorted thinking.

Thanks for all your thoughts guess its the old there are more questions than answers sketch.
I to am not sure about a manual gearbox and as people have said the DBS is more a GT but I think we can all agree the DBS is one hell of a looker.
I just know if I go and drive one of each,I will end up loving them all for different reasons.
When are the V12VS cars due at the dealers ?

The DBS with Autobox is more of a GT, and then the new Vqs II might be the better choice (but much more expensive than 2010 DBS). The DBS with manual, however, gives you a totally different driving experience: it is the same setup (engine, drivetrain, gearbox) as the V12V, but......has longer wheelbase and adaptive suspension, so is a a sportscar that can be used daily, if wanted/required.
Test drove the DBS Auto many years ago.....fast, but not impressed. Later test drove a V12V,........impressed, overwhelning.........but very nervous, and with the standard tyres not easy to use daily (especially with rain, etc).
Finally test drove a DBS Manual..........and I was sold! Best of both worlds (overwhelming, fast, practical), and this gearbox is not offered by the new Vqs II, so no competition there.
So, better drive the different ones, and choose what fits YOU best!
