Does anyone fancy another run through the tunnels of London any time soon? woohoo

I will happily organise one if you were happy with my organisational skills last time - I will try to work out a different route this time, possibly west to east, and aim for better facilities at both ends and better instructions. If someone else wants to have a go, then do say, and I will retire gracefully weeping

I would suggest some time in September, so that it is a little warmer and a little lighter at the start - 14th October last year was a little cold and dark.

I know we usually do these runs on a Sunday, and would suggest the same again......

.....except that in the (brief) hunt for a different venue for after the event (we have been to Brooklands the last two times), I came across a day's Historic Sports Car racing at Brands Hatch, which is just outside the M25 in North Kent and easily accessible for TiTTers. The racing is on Saturday 28th September, costs £13 per adult (£10 if booked before 24th August). Please add your comments about the pros and cons of changing to Saturday.....

To quote the Brands website:

The meeting features a superb line-up of races including the Historic Road Sports, 70's Road Sports, Historic Touring Cars, Historic Formula Ford, Classic Racing Cars, Classic Formula 3, Historic Formula Junior and Historic Formula Ford 2000. Gates open at 8 am.

and pic:

If anyone has any other ideas for an after the event event, then please say so.

Please start a list in an orderly fashion once we have sorted out the date

I'm in. thumbup

The only negative towards the Saturday is that it will be generally busier, but sounds like a great plan for Brands

I agree, but thought/hoped that if we ran it west to east for a change we could avoid most of the early west-end sightseeing traffic.
i will undertake to go to London on a Saturday morning soon and see how the traffic levels compare with Sundays.
We will of course be on the roads between about 6.30 and 9/9.30. The west end shops don't open until 11.30 or 12.00, IIRC.
I propose we only make it Saturday if we like the Brands idea, otherwise its a Sunday event as before - subject to one of us finding a good event for those who want to make a day of it.

We could start from the Ace cafe?

Or is that too far out?

Definitely up for this!

West - East and ending at Brands sounds like a good idea to me.

Thanks Andy, that's a pretty good idea. I will have to negotiate an earlier opening than usual (7.00 is their normal start time), but the thought of selling 100 bacon rolls and tea/coffees might be sufficient motivation, and we could then process in a nice convoy down to Hangar Lane and in down the A40, an easy route into central London.
FWIW the bar manager I spoke to just now reckons that there's not much difference in traffic levels between Saturday early and Sunday early.

If I can find somewhere more central and with the space to handle us.......but the Ace Cafe is certainly a venue with some motoring standing.

I,m in and up for the ideas posted so far smileFrom my own experience of Saturday morning traffic in town,it is better than mid morning Sunday traffic. People seem to have a purpose to be on the road on Saturday as opposed to stupid old duffers dawdling about aimlessly on Sundays, cluttering up our playground !! biggrin Be good to see you again Anthony .

We would love to be there again, as long as I don't have to follow Tony's Cerbera again as I doubt my hearing would stand up to it again. Also our meet at Longleat is on the 29th September, so if this date could be avoided please, as it would be great to have many more Tivvers join us on safari.

We are definitely up for this, we did our first run earlier this year and it was awesome fun, loved it, especially the puddle dock bit.

Yup!! One each, me and my passenger. Far more fun with a passenger on board to navigate

I'd love to do another one - without needing an uphill pushstart this time hopefully.

Sunday 15th September is the TVRCC Speed Championship @ Brands I believe .....(although clashes with 'Back Home' in Blackpool.

Paul.

According to Brands Hatch, and the South East Motor Sports Enthusiasts Club, 15th September is their race day, not the TVRCC day. Please check and advise me, as I have no axe to grind and just want the best event for us.

Brands Hatch have offered to reduce the entry price to the Historic Race Day to £8 per person in return for a block booking (it's normally £10 per person booked in advance, £13 on the day), and have offered to give us a designated TVR parking area, which should help us to keep our cars safer. Note the price is per person, NOT per car.

The car park will be there for everyone with a TVR, even the most indecisive weather forecast watcher who would rather see how he/she feels on the day, but I will buy a block of tickets myself for the decisive amongst you and collect the £8 per person at the start of our run.

Yes please. New slave and clutch means the Sag is back to add some orange to the outing.
