Sorry Paul, I was away for the weekend so just seen this. I can summarise the following although I have many black cars on the Register which I dont know which black they are!

74 Carbon Blacks

Of which 23 UK, 36 USA, 15 others

The first Carbon Black car was S00404 which was at the Geneva Motor Show in 2010.

I have 12 Black V12V's (mainly UK/USA) with vin numbers unknown colour
I have 58 Black V12V's (mainly European) with no vin numbers unknown colour

I think I saw this at Gaydon last year, Its a very unusual and rare specced car methinks and is out of sync with other cars in that the vin and plate don't tally with other cars as it was a factory car for some time before being registered. A rare beast indeed and like mine only 1 of 7 UK makos I'm aware of.

Not to be questioning you, but is it possible the sill plate says 'Carbon', rather than 'Carbon Black'? I know on the DBS that the Carbon Black editions are all black, whereas the Carbon edition can be any color since the Carbon is referring to the carbon fiber trim elements and not the color.

I asked a contact at AM who came back to confirm there were only 7 Mako V12 Vantages built in RHD which Tallis with your total. We are a rare bunch with I think 4 represented on here at least.

I have been trying to obtain this type of information for a V8 4.7 rare colour.

Now agreed to wait until the end of the model run.

However Ian, I would be very grateful to know the name of your contact. Very few employees seem to understand their computer database.

Thank you.

Great! Thanks for the confirmation Ian. I do have other Makos on the Register, NZ, Australia, USA but good to know about the exclusivity biggrin

I may be wrong but I'm not sure that's 100% correct

DBS & V12V carbon black edition were only ever marketed as being available in carbon black.

DBS carbon edition was only ever marketed as being available in one of 3 colours - ceramic grey, carbon black (which I've also seen referred to as carbon black II) and flame orange

But because some UK & European V12V carbon black editions have come to light in colours other than black, which predate the US numbered edition, it has become obvious that you could order the carbon black V12V in any colour. It follows suit that you could probably also do the same with either carbon edition of DBS, though I've never known of one

btw although there was never officially a V12V carbon 'only' (i.e. not carbon black) edition, certainly in the UK, there is a numbered (of 40?) V12V edition recently sold in the US and possibly elsewhere, many of which were in matt black, black wheels, etc

Every Carbon Black DBS I've seen is black. I realize that the Carbon DBS was offered in 3 colors, but in reality, DBS could be ordered in any color if customer ordered, which is why I didn't limit myself to mentioning that in my post. I can't recollect having seen a Carbon DBS not in one of those 3 colors. Aston Martin, being the bespoke car manufacturer that it is, certainly did not have to follow the standard spec as offered when it came to a customer ordered car, so anything is possible.

I suspect that this mostly comes down to pricing. most dbs carbon black & carbon cars will most likely have been dealer spec cars. So will many V12Vs (whether carbon black or not)

But if you wanted a few options on your (new, customer spec) V12V, it may well have been cheaper to order the carbon black version and then order it in a different colour than to order the regular car. Just a thought as the price dif new at full list was less than 5% IIRC but there were quite a few things thrown in. DBS carbon black had fewer such options

Indeed there is a limited of 40 end of line run of cars, afaik, for the USA market.
I have identified 19 of these so far with vin numbers - 1,2,5,7,9,10,11,12,13,14,15,18,19,20,22,23,25,26, 1 unknown plaque number.

Of these the colours are:-
Satin - 10
Azurite - 4
Carbon - 3
Unknown - 2

They all appear to have both interior and exterior carbon packs, and quite a few have red or yellow calipers with matching leather stitching. Most have B&O with a few only having 700w.

I'm just wondering that as I've not found any above 26/40 whether these last cars have gone to a different market place??

that's one very realistic possibility. The other of course is that they didn't make/sell 40 - AML have a history (IIRC, V12 Zag, DB9 Le Mans edition, DB7 Dunhill edition, etc)

That's how I understand it. My sill plaques are definitely 'Carbon Black', Phil (MakoV12V) suggested that a few cars around my chassis number of 639 were CB editions but were ordered in different colours as that made the over cost of the car lower.
