Hammerite or Chassis Black

I was all set on whipping out the Hammerite this weekend to give the chassis a bit of protection, but my uncle has thrown a spanner in the works by suggesting a kind of paint called chassis black. Now, as he has been a panel beater, mechanic and general tools man for all his life for a wide range of cars, he must know a thing or two.

First, has anyone heard of chassis black and secondly, most importantly, are there any potential problems with it and the kind of powder coatings and metals used in the metal parts that I will need to protect?
