How to cut a hole in the bonnet?

In need of advice on how to cut out a hole in the bonnet. I have just finished installing some SBD throttle bodies and with the sausage filter on the bonnet can almost close (slightly crushing the filter at the front will let it close). What I want to do is make a cut out the length and approx height of the filter and attach some mesh grill behind it for better air flow.

What is the best tool to use and tips and technique on how to do this?

Fein roof decking nibbler is ideal & the way I've done it twice for my Busa induction when starting on a fresh painted bonnet.

If just enlarging an existing hole by a few mm all round you can use a Black & decker finger file to good effect as its what I use to provide the finishing touches to the nibbled finish then a very fine slotted rubber edge trim.

There's a little here http://www.jock7s.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=11&amp... (page 8) about how I did mine. Main thing is to start with a small hole and work out. You only get one chance, so take your time and cut a little at a time.

Use a spot of grease on the nibbler it helps to stop the ali sticking to the blade.
