I've already one bracket fitted to the passenger-side of mine to go with the supplied seat, but I'll like to fit another so I can take both scamps and be sure that both their seats will be safe.

Has anyone done this, and are the brackets of any use for seats other than the standard ones, as I'll be looking at using it for my youngest so the seat will need integral belts.

Cheers

The best advice on child seats comes from the In Car Safety Centre at Stacey Bushes near Milton Keynes.

When I was a lad mother plonked me on the parcel shelf at the back of a lotus elan+2.

She used to sit in the back of the car as a safety measure when my father was driving fast so as to catch me if I fell off.

As I grew up I watched my maniac father drive like a looney while sitting on the centre consol at the back with a clear view of the road and used to cry if I was asked to sit in the seat.

Many a time I laughed as an over ambitious cornering manouver would throw me into one of the seats.

I cried a lot when I became too big such that my father couldn't see out of the rear view mirror and insisted I sit on one of the seats.

It seems my childhood will never be repeated. I may cry one last time.

It's not the seats I'm worried about, but the extra bracket that fits in so as to "extend" the sat squab so there is something to support the seat.

We've got five child seats now (including the Recarro start aready in the Cerbera) so I'm hoping one of those will fit well for our youngest.

Rob, I believe there are a number of owners who use a Recarro Start seat without the bracket. I believe the bracket was fitted by TVR for their TVR/Recarro baby seat, which by all accounts, is the same as the Recarro Start. I still havent got round to a seat yet but will be going down the Recarro route, eventually

Ive only tried one other baby seat in the car and it moved about too much for my liking, as we've discussed before. May wait to buy until after Ive had a look at how well yours fits

The problem with the Recarro is is doesn't have its own harnesses and uses the standard belt, positioned so as not to strange the child if the worst happens, these aren't suitable for less than 18 months, so I either have to wait or find another solution in the interim.

Not sure of the differences in the standard and TVR variants but will investigate the bracket when I return, I've been told the seat is bolted/screwed into the bracket and the bracket to the car, making it as good as IsoFix rather than the usual seatbelt attachment most use...

Will catch up soon to show you how the seat fits - VW on Sunday 24th?
