PS3 Wheel, whats good?
Discussion
ive got a logitech g27, and its rather good, infact i made a little cockpit out of an old bucket seat, not as professional as the 300 quid stand things you get, and i made mines out of wood, but it was good fun.
only problem i had with the g27 is the power pack gave up the ghost, that thing got pretty damn hot, phoned logitech, they were very nice but as was within 2 years, it was up to the retailer to sort, ended up getting a ebay dc/ac pack which has worked fine since,
only problem i find is apart from the wheel its a bit feeling less, no weight to the clutch pedal nor accelerator, the brake pedal feels ok and has a bit of resistance to it but you can still mash it completely to the floor easy enough, especially with my clown feet, The shifter has no weight to it, its like pressing a button,
everything works great but it takes away from the involvment, you can do some modification to it, which are fairly popular, you can change the springs in the pedals to give more resistance, same with the shifter, you can buy kits, but your essentially paying like 30 quid for some springs that cost maybe a quid or 2, infact you can change the wheel completely to a real one, but you loose 6 buttons on the wheel.
im not sure how much they cost now, mines was about £225 back when they were difficult to get hold of, its the highest price of the non-fanatech type wheels, unsure if there worth more than the driveforce etc,
