I've never been bothered by them before. However this year each time I've been bitten I've had a huge reaction.
I ended up having 3 days off work when my arm went sceptic.
Now my legs have a spreading reaction. Piriton and loratadine seem to have no real effect, except make me sleepy.
What does anyone else swear by to fix these reactions, or the initial bite?

I got bitten above the eye yesterday, and have been rubbing hydrocortisone on it, but I'm calling at my doctors in the morning for some antibiotics.
Anti-histamine, surely?They'll only prescribe something you can buy over the counter - or advise the same, so you're likely to be wasting both your and their time.
I don't think I'm infected yet, this time, but this is my arm a week after a bite/sting had almost disappeared then flared up.

I had some kick-ass antibiotics to get rid of this one.
I'm after any "old wives tales" etc just to cure me.

Dunno if this helps. No 'old wives cures' that I have heard of.
However, I had a run of bloody things biting just one arm.
I'd had the usual bites that swell a little and itch. Especially abroad where you expect to get a few bites.
Then out of the blue I was getting reactions to bites, here in the UK.
And I could never understand why it was the same arm. Occasionally, I'd get bitten on the leg but mostly on the arm.
Then one Sat morn in WHS I was reaching up for car mag and felt a nick on my elbow. Didn't think anything of it, till I reached up to put the mag back. Saw this red line gradually running up towards my armpit. s
t! I knew it was not good news when a bite tracks as I'd been informed of this when buying insect cream. No docs open on Sat so I went to nearest pharmacy and they told me to get to local hospital quick. I did and I was on double anti-biots immediately.
Once it had settled down sod me if I didn't get another bite on same arm and this one just kept swelling.
Why the same arm? Just one of those things, a reaction. Asked what could cause it? Didn't know. Anti-biots again.
It happened again next year, the minute the warm weather came and the midges and mossies were flying - something was attracting the blighters to me and I was having reactions. I was starting to feel paranoid about bites. I changed deodrant, shower gels everything!
Then the next year it stopped. Of course, I still get bitten but no reactions (touch wood!)
Perhaps the little blighters just got fed up feeding on me!

Something bit me on Saturday night as I slept. I was aware of an itching during my sleep adn when I awoke, I had two punctures on my bicep about 5mm apart. Throughout Sunday, it itched and the swelling around the bite continued to grow until the area was about 4cm in diameter, raised and pink. It seemed to go down last night, although the two punctures are now raised and still itchy.
My guess is that a spider bit me in my sleep. It's definitely not two mosquito bites and it's nothing like a horsefly bite.
