Oil Temperature sensor
Discussion
Never been happy with the oil temperature sensor position in the sump as it gets cooled from air under the car when moving so after considering lots of options decided to fit in place of the oil pressure light switch (fitter another oil switch elsewhere) now shows the actual temperature of the oil within the engine -

Sounds like a sensible idea, you'll need to let us know track temps, what you used to see and how it compares now after 10/15 mins on track.
Yes looking forward to getting the car on track again & will log all the temperatures, my thinking is that this way it will read true temperature & the only oil temp that really matters.andygtt said:
That's a great place, did you replace the oil light or just reply on the ecu safeties and oil pressure gauge?
The MoTec displays, logs & provides alarms for everything inc oil temperature so no need really for an oil light, however as l had a light in the centre dash & just so it's not redundant l fitted another oil pressure switch in the feed to the MoTec transducer.url]
Can I ask a couple of questions on this.
1. can u remember what thread it is in this position (assuming the 2.5 is the same).
2. I assume there is no issue fitting my oil pressure sensor at this point?
3. As my ECU will also be wired to this pressure sensor then I should be ok not bothering to find a place for the low pressure switch that's in place as std?

1. 3/8 npt taper (3.0 L)1. can u remember what thread it is in this position (assuming the 2.5 is the same).

2. Should work fine as that's where Ford fit the oil light pressure switch
3. Up to you, l still fitted one.

That's what the gauge people guessed it would be so they will supply an adaptor.
Where else could I put the switch. You had a cooler so was easy. I don't so I would assume drilling and tapping somewhere.
As the ECU will monitor it and gauge has alarm, then I think I'll not bother.

These (link example) are handy for senders etc, if you have clearance enough under the oil filter. That's what the gauge people guessed it would be so they will supply an adaptor.
