Having made good use of the weather of late I have now virtually completed my rear light mod. Just need to flat back and straighten up the shut line at both ends for the rear bumper and it's job done. The rear bumper and boot lid will get painted this weekend to finish off the rear end before final flatting and polishing.

The lights are all wired in and working with some tidying up of the wiring loom to do on the inside along with some mastic work to keep the water out. If I were to do this job again I would only use the quarter section of the rear light and a flat section of GRP - cutting out the holes with the wrong jigsaw blade made life difficult but as you can see by the finish result I think it's a great mod and certainly transforms the rear end of the car IMO. As for the Wedge purists - if you carry on looking after your cars in the manner that you do - I'm sure they're still be some originality left in order to allow the free thinkers the right to express themselves in the variations of their work and to keep them sane and strees free from the pressures of life...

By all means drop me a PM if you need any advice on what to do in case this is something you would like to do.

Stay Well & Stay Safe Brothers...

I like the look of them clean inserted so cant damage them as easy as the original lenses and will not cost a bundle either.
On the other hand there are folk out there that will not like them, down to the individual's taste.

Hi Zig the paint is pure white - it's still fresh but needs to be flatted back after a week or so as its been painted in Celle. By the way I'm still deliberating whether to electric with my power steering...

As a modification, I think you have done a brilliant job and they do look very good. I like the fact that they are set into the bodywork for protection and enhanced look. My only criticism would be that if the reversing lights were in with two of the four round lights, I think it would look better, rather than having them separately, but all the same you have done a very professional looking job. It has that Corvette C3 look. Well done.

I have found the EPS pump to be very similar to the mechanical pump in operation..Although the thought of a fuse blowing whilst driving is a bit dis-concerting although not entirely dangerous..I still have my refurbed montego PAS pump if you wanted to use it..It has a slightly shorter filler neck then the SD1 type but i think the fittings are the same...Ziga

The rear fog light is below the indicator on both sides.

Great work, looks a pukka job. I also thought it was pearl white smile

Personally I am not sure the wedge suits round tail lights but I guess a lot of that is due to the fact I have always seen them with the originals but well done for going for it as all our cars are individual in one way or another.

Not to my taste at all. But may I say what a really professional job, your a talented guy you are and dont let anyone tell you otherwise. I would love to be able to take on never mind complete something like this, I must admit though if it was my choice it would be a opel manta mk1 rear light cluster. Im not too great on photoshop but if someone (zig) could give us an example im sure it would look right.

Well done GV

Scooting around eBay I found a couple of other options from the lowly Golf aftermarket department:

Hi Andy
Excellent work mate as not an easy thing to get right, I think I would have kept to just the 2 main lights, but that's just my opinion, regards, Ralph

I think once the number plate goes back on and the graphics are applied to the boot the reverse lights won't appear as isolated as they do. We'll see...but thank you so far for your cooments and remmeber I'm here to help anyone who's in need of minor body repairs and any mods they might want to have a go at doing...

Looks like a very good job. I also was thinking where had I seen similar lights, and whilst stuck in traffic yesterday I seen em on the back of a bus.
