Calories - Snack foods that are surprsingly high/low ...
Discussion
I thought this could be an interesting thread, especially for those of us who are losing weight, but fancy a sugary treat every now and again ... So list any products you eat that are snack based and are either surprisingly high or surprisingly low in calories. For me:
Surprisingly low:
M&S Coffee Sponge Roll - 165 cals for 1/6th (A big piece!)
Surprisingly high:
McVities Dark Chocolate Digestives - 90cals per biscuit!
Any more?

Pain au chocolat - 370kcals
I was all set to 'lunch' yesterday on two of them plus a cup of tea... I decided the almost 800kcals would be better utilised elsewhere!
I noticed the same several months back - I didn't think they'd be too bad, but even standard croissants are hideous in terms of calorie content!

A regular mocha with no cream is just shy of 300 calories.
A pint of larger is around 250 calories whilst a JD & diet coke is only about 65 calories.
Half a can of green giant sweet corn with peppers (80g) is only 55 calories.
A large pack of brocolli & fine beans (half a pack will easily do a portion!) is only around 48 calories.
MyProtein dessert is a large portion, tastes great and is only just over 200 calories per serving using skimmed milk with almost 35g of protein, 10g of carbs and 3.5g of fat. I've been eating a lot of this!!
A scotch egg is almost 300 calories!!
Those cocktail sausages with ketchup in Sainsburys (not exactly a big portion...) is almost 300 calories too... !
The £1 cheese & red onion sandwich from Sainsburys on Oatmeal bread is a whopping 430 calories.
McD's 5 pcs chicken selects are 640 calories!! That is WITHOUT the sweet chili or BBQ dip... easily taking that to close to 800 calories... f
k!
Half a cup of asparagus is only 20 calories and makes your pee smell funky!
Blueberries are very low in calories... 48 calories per large 70g serving.
A nectarine is only 62 calories and v sweet tasting.
Papaya also very low in calories - again around 60 calories.
150g of spinach is only 45 calories.

Same for any decent spirit and diet mixer. Vodka and slimline tonic has replaced beer for me recently.mu0n said:

Most nuts, seeds and dried fruit. Pretty much all alarmingly calorie dense.
True but nuts that you don't fully digest (a lot of nut passes through you) doesn't count towards the calorie count. The calorie count is made by burning the item so the nut is fully burned up which isn't how your body uses it. Actual body calories gained from nuts equate to between 33% and 66% of the total nut calorie depending on how well you chew them it up with the exception of peanut butter etc. tat comes fully smoothed. mu0n said:
My brother is flying to Ibiza after Tomorrowland for a week.
There are a ton of DJ’s I wanna see but no doubt I’ll miss loads.
Armin Van Buuren, Eric Prydz & Benny Benassi clash.
Always the way with festivals!

Is he going to San Antonio or Playa D'en Bossa? We're going to Privilege on Saturday night and hopefully Ushaia both for the Radio 1 events.

Dried fruit is junk food, leave well alone. I was trying to explain to my friend his drinking tropicana juice is like drinking sugar but I don't think he understood. Much piss take occurred when I had cheese and a carton of double cream for tea followed by Brazil nuts.
