Boxster 981 gen 2?

I know it's not been long since the 981 Boxster was launched maybe a year or so but how long do Porsche usually wait until they facelift a car?
I'm holding off seriously looking/ordering as delivery will be into the back end of the year or if I leave it any longer it will be into early next year and all the time thinking I'll end up with one of the last made Gen 1s (knowing my luck) I've not seen any spy shots of them on the net so it's surely a while off yet isn't it?

987 was released in 2005 and facelifted to generation 2 in 2009 so its possible the gap will be the same with the new one. I wouldnt expect it to be facelifted in early 2014 if it was only launch in what March 2012?

What's wrong with having a later 981? Is it depreciation you're worried about?

Or do you just want the latest?

I had something similar with the old 986, when I was about to order it the 987 was just announced so I ended up getting the fresh one, I'd like to have my new car be newest for longest, not be old before its time, if you know what I mean.
depreciation would have some element but I don't let it factor in on my decisions that much.

I like the 981 as it is, so staying like it is now would suit me fine

I know what you mean - once I bought a Golf Gti brand new, only for a facelift to be released 3 months later. Made my car look old!

I bought the 987 gen 2 Cayman as soon as it was released. Current shape for the whole of ownership.

Ordered my 981 Cayman last November in order to take delivery as soon as officially available in the UK.

Will keep it for four years which should ensure current shape. It's all about getting in sync with the Manufacturers releases!!!

I think you would be safe in buying a 981 Boxster at the end of year and getting 3 years out of it before they facelift...

seems daft to wait another 3.5 years for a face lift and not even a model change.
May as well wait 8 years for the new model lol
But think I will stick with real steering on my 987.2 cars thanks, the new ones have gone a bit soft and more GT like which is a real shame , also not a fan of the 911 look with the new cars.

They will yes but not huge ones in my experience. I have found it easier in the past to get a couple of options thrown in

I'm hoping on a discount/options in the deal, loving the new metallic blue
