Is a griff exhaust the same as chimaera ?

I have been running my 1999 4ltr Chimaera around for the last year with a cracked manifold, which after pricing a new replacement, decided to attempt a temporary repair, which is still holding, But today managed to buy a complete system from a 1997 5ltr griff, that had been written off, for what I believe to be a real bargain.
I have both manifolds, Lambda sensors,the Y piece and exhaust system with all the Cats, and everything seems to be in very good order, in fact, a lot better condition than what is fitted now.
I would like to swap the whole lot over and was hoping somebody on here could confirm that both systems will be the same.My main concern being the system from the Y piece backwards, as the manifolds and Y piece do appear identical.

Not 100% , but is'nt the Griff exhaust shorter at the tail end ?

Thanks for the replies, I guess I was expecting a bit much. Not too disappointed though , after all it is only the manifold that I really need,I will probably sell on what I cant use to recoup some of the outlay and keep the Y piece and cats as spares

Yes they are different, on the Griff type the tails sweep up more which would be the main problem for you, manifolds and "Y" are the same though.

I have had a closer look at the exhaust today, and yes, I noticed the part numbers stamped on the manifolds and the Y piece are the same.

I compared the exhaust and there seems to be a few differences between them, but they are quite similar.
The main difference I noticed was my system on the car appears to have a few sections made of mild steel,which are quite rusty, yet the one I bought appears to be all stainless, and virtually unmarked.
The Griff exhaust is slightly shorter at the rear, and also has a flexy section towards the front, which the Chimaera one doesnt.

Do you think it could be feasible to add a section after the box to lengthen and make minor adjustments, ie bending, and welding to fit, or would I come up against a major which could not be overcome
I have had my moneys worth in the one manifold alone, so It wouldnt be disasterous if it didnt work, what do you think?

Don’t know about the back bit, but if you can get rid of the flexy bit. It is my understanding that this was added for the 500’s and keeps cracking.

I’m not sure its really needed and next time mines in to get welded up I think ill have it removed.

Well it could be done, you would need some serious equipment though. i would sell it and then find a Chimaera one later.

If you want to sell the exhaust I might be interested as I want a standard spare one.
